Student Information

 What the Migrant English Project can offer you:

A friendly and non-judgemental place where you can relax, meet people and have a chat. We offer:

  • free, informal English lessons at every level (1-to-1 lesson or part of a small group);
  • computer skills;
  • an allotment;
  • basic advice and referral – you can talk to us in complete confidence;
  • free refreshments and lunch;
  • travel costs may be reimbursed if required – please ask.

The project is run by volunteers.
We are independent from the government and all organisations.
We try to break down isolation and barriers experienced by people who come from other countries and whose first language is not English.

We welcome you to volunteer. The project belongs to you.
Could you get involved?  Can you help with:

  • translation;
  • general conversation groups;
  • cooking lunch;
  • organising trips;
  • welcoming new volunteers and students;
  • washing up.

We have made a leaflet explaining how MEP works and what we do. It can be downloaded by clicking here.
